Our Story
For over 30 years, Artuso & Sons has proudly served the Thornwood community with an authentic taste of Italian culture. Prior to establishing its presence in Thornwood, the bakery operated in Mount Vernon under Jack & Vincent Artuso — two brothers who had immigrated from Reggio di Calabria, Italy in 1930 alongside their sisters, Anna and Victoria. The Mount Vernon location expanded upon the original Artuso Pastry shop, which has continued to delight customers on East 187th Street of the Bronx’s Arthur Avenue for over 80 years.
Following Jack’s passing, his son Robert has carried on the family tradition, relocating the Mount Vernon shop to Thornwood in December 1994 with the support of his wife Kathleen and their three sons — Robert Jr., Michael, and Jack.
Known for its welcoming, warm, and familial atmosphere, Artuso’s has consistently remained a go-to spot for coffee chats and fresh pastries, made for all to enjoy. The bakery has had the privilege of supporting customers through many of life’s most joyous occasions, from baby showers, birthdays, graduations, to weddings.
Over the years, Artuso’s has continued our dedication to uplifting our community through employing hundreds of residents and continually supporting organizations, including schools, first responders, and nursing homes. Above all, the family takes great pride in preserving the enduring legacy of our sweet tradition.
